DevOps Engineer

Your new role and environment.

As a DevOps Engineer you build technical products for our engineers with the specific focus on our stores and Distribution Centers (DC) infrastructure. These technical products are related to public cloud, edge computing and Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies. This will enable our product teams to develop new products to improve our customer and employee experience. The major engineering challenge for you and team to solve is how to introduce this at scale with over than 1250 stores and 6 large Distribution Centers.
Following Inner-Sourcing principles, you will work with users and maintainers throughout the entire organization to fit your ideas into the bigger picture: accelerate our product teams so that they can deliver quality customer value quickly and autonomously.

Key responsibilities of your role.

• Learn about how painful it is for large-scale companies to handle the day-to-day life retail management and understand how our technology is changing the status quo
• Own what you build, with the ability to decide how to build it and the responsibility of operating it in the production environment.
• Build meaningful products using modern technologies that our customers use and depend on for everyday business.
• Keen eye for observability throughout all landscape.
• Assure that robots are in control of all operations so you can use your imagination to solve thought problems.
• Continuously feed the learnings and observations of operating the system back into our products.
• Collaborate with the product team to define the future of our products and deliver value with every release.

Our Tech Stack

• In-house edge stack from OS to k8s add-ons.
• For development, we use Phyton and Go.
• We use Azure for cloud services.
• We manage our infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Grafana, and any other tool that fit our needs.

• You’re a builder at heart; you like the opportunity of having tons of exposure, making things work for a company long-term, and having an entrepreneurial attitude for anything that comes your way.
• You are comfortable scaling and operating large-scale services in high-growth environments.
• You are comfortable in one or more of programming languages. Most of our current codebase is in Go, but we are not stuck to any tools, since we see them to an end.
• You like to use data over opinions to make decisions. And are okay with finding the data yourself when it’s missing.
• You prefer to improve the system as a whole and are not fixated on improving local optimums that may not impact the bottleneck.
