Cloud Database Engineer

Your new role and environment.

As Cloud Database Engineer within the EU IT Tech Enablement Platform Teams, you contribute directly by working in close collaboration with the local brand teams from EU BT (EU Business & Tech) to enable business value. You will be directly involved in the delivery and the execution of the IT and the Business projects.  You will have to manage the different database technologies, traditional on premise and cloud based. Of course, you do not do this alone, but together with your colleagues in the cloud database team and the business and the technology stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of your role.

• Guarantee service uptime and optimal performance of all database platforms owned by the DBA team (on-prem and in cloud) in a cost optimal way (Finops).
• Create and maintain documentation DBA configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Use methodologies and capabilities like CI/CD, IaC and tools like Terraform, Ansible, Github, Azure Devops, Bicep, GithubActions, etc
• Interface with members of various teams including Business teams, Enterprise Architecture, Server/virtualization, Security, Storage, and Network as they collaborate to build best practices into their technical designs and migrations to Infrastructure as Code (IaC). 
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of the future of the business needs and supports the alignment of IT projects and Cloud architecture & strategies.
• Ensure Service management for externalized services like Oracle & DB2 in a nearshore or offshore concept. 
• Act as the operational owner of Database technologies for traditional-ops organized product teams, and act as a coach for database technologies when interacting with full stack organized teams.
• Participate in multiple projects and play a key role as a subject matter expert for successful implementation. Act as a critical advisor to teams, providing deep functional expertise in the standards, processes, and procedures.
• Help to develop the vision and strategy for the database team to mature on deploying and supporting other database technologies like: NoSQL, Cosmos DB, MariaDB, PostGRES SQL, etc
• Create, maintain and present the DBA team roadmaps
• Represent DBA team in cross-functional planning and strategy sessions across OpCos.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps and product teams to ensure strategic ITSM alignment supports agile development and secure delivery.
• Apply cloud platform knowledge where relevant to align service management with modern infrastructure and application delivery
• You will participate in the 24/7 on call team for your domain.

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor in IT or related is a must
• Working in the last 2 to 5 years in the cloud on database technologies like : MS SQL on IAAS, SQL PAAS, Managed SQL, NoSQL, MySQL, PostGRES SQL, etc
• With experience in Agile practices, Agile certification or equivalent experience is a big asset
• Basic knowledge and/or experience with Jira / Confluence / GitHub / MS Teams is a plus
• Proven project planning and management experience.
• 5 to 7 years’ experience in the design and implementation of infrastructure environments
• Experience in an international decentralized organization and/or matrix organization
• You can take decisions after analyzing and assessing the impact
