SAP HANA & ABAP Developer

The Center of Excellence (CoE) Data Insights & Analytics is responsible for the delivery of regional solutions to our great local brands.

The Data Insights & Analytics CoE designs, configures, implements and operates a regional Data Platform foundation using SAP technologies (SAP BW, SAP BO/BODS, SAP CAR, SAP HANA) for Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Data Hub use cases, enabling strategic capabilities on the Retail, Marketing, Financial areas, Supply Chain and E-commerce business domains.

The SAP HANA & ABAP Developer will design, build, optimize, and support technical solutions within the SAP Customer Activity Repository landscape. The role focuses on HANA-based data modelling to enable reliable retail analytics, reporting, and downstream business processes.

Key responsibilities of your role.

• Design and develop SAP CAR technical solutions using SAP HANA, SQLScript, CDS views, AMDP, and ABAP.
• Build and maintain HANA calculation views, procedures, table functions, and data models supporting retail analytics and operational reporting.
• Support POS data integration and processing, including POS Data Transfer and Audit, transaction validation, enrichment, error handling, and reconciliation.
• Develop and enhance interfaces between SAP CAR, ECC, POS systems, BW, reporting platforms, and other enterprise applications.
• Analyze, debug, and resolve technical issues related to transaction flows, IDocs, data replication, batch jobs, and performance bottlenecks.
• Optimize HANA models, SQLScript, ABAP code, and data extraction logic for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, business analysts, solution architects, and test teams to translate business requirements into robust technical designs.
• Create and maintain technical specifications, development documentation, unit test evidence, and deployment notes.
• Participate in code reviews, quality checks, defect triage, transport management, and release activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of SAP CAR development standards, monitoring practices, and support procedures.

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 4–6 years of SAP technical development experience.
• Practical experience in SAP CAR, SAP Retail, POS data processing, or comparable high-volume transaction environments.
• Knowledge of retail domain business processes such as POS, store operations, promotions, inventory.
• Proven ability to deliver technical solutions across design, build, unit testing, integration testing, deployment, and hypercare support.
• Strong functional process knowledge and an ability to contextualize technology solutions to business users and articulate business value.

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP HANA development, including calculation views, SQLScript, procedures, performance analysis, and data modelling.
• Solid ABAP development experience, including debugging, enhancements, reports, interfaces, and performance optimization.
• Experience working with retail transaction data, sales audit processes, inventory-related data flows, and high-volume data processing.
• Knowledge of integration mechanisms such as IDocs, OData services, RFCs, APIs, SLT, data replication, and file-based interfaces.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA or ECC retail processes, including sales, article master data, site/store data, pricing, promotions, and inventory.
• Ability to troubleshoot data quality issues, job failures, interface errors, and end-to-end transaction inconsistencies.
• Understanding of transport management, development lifecycle controls, and SAP security concepts relevant to HANA and ABAP development.
• Understanding of SAP Customer Activity Repository architecture and core components, especially POS Data Transfer and Audit is considered a strong plus.
