About us.

We’re AD/01, the tech studio that builds the future of food retail. Whether it’s in-store aisles, online baskets, or behind-the-scenes operations, we innovate the daily food experiences for farmers and families, grandmas and greengrocers, and pickers and packers alike.

We’re part of the Ahold Delhaize network, one of the world’s largest global food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. With 19 strong local brands in Europe, the United States, and Indonesia, we create a meaningful difference for our customers, our people, and the world around us. And we’re looking for the freshest minds excited to create the recipe for change.

Why do it with us?

We make sure you have all the tools and support you need.

We're a welcoming group of code crunching comrades.

We tap into the extensive capabilities of our Ahold Delhaize network.

What does this mean for you?

Your new role and environment.

Together with your team of (Product Owners/Backend Developers/Mobile Developers) you will work on inspiring projects to accelerate our transition into a hybrid Food & Tech company. We want to leverage data and technology to future-proof food shopping and give our customers accessibility to healthy food more easily available for everyone.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll work together with an enthusiastic team on the foundation of our data environment. You’ll make sure that data and software engineers from different countries within Ahold Delhaize can work with data smoothly and securely.

Key responsibilities of your role.

  • Further develop our data platform, for example by building CI/CD pipelines and optimizing data processing.
  • Building new integrations with sources such as Kafka, Delta, Event Hub, and Files.
  • Designing scalable solutions and supporting users with questions or issues.
  • Enabling users to onboard their data and perform their operational tasks independently via our self-service platform.
  • Improving our development processes together with the team and ensuring stable releases.
  • Translating stakeholder requirements into smart, fitting solutions for our platform.
  • Design and implement Python-based APIs and event-driven data processing frameworks adhering to OOP and SOLID principles.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or OpenTofu.
  • Design and contribute to data platform components that operate reliably in large-scale Azure environments across multiple subscriptions and resource groups.
  • Containerize with Docker and deploy python applications on self-managed Kubernetes clusters using helm charts or manifests.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes for both infrastructure and applications.
  • Apply security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and RBAC.

So, what do we have in store for you? We offer flexible hours and a hybrid working model, allowing you to work both from home and at the office. We provide competitive benefits to support health, well-being and your professional growth. This includes: a significant budget on benefit platform and a yearly bonus. At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across-brand network.

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

  • You have experience writing scalable Python code, following OOP and SOLID principles.
  • You are familiar with data processing and streaming.
  • You understand event-driven or microservices architectures.
  • You have experience managing and supporting infrastructure in Azure, focusing on availability, scalability, and reliability.

It goes without saying that so-called ‘soft skills’ are just as important as their ‘hard’ cousins. We highly value:
